What does a leak look like on a session graph?

Written By Gareth Lloyd

When trying to determine if there is a leak present, the AI will look at the session graph and look for key indicators, these are normally consistent peaks at particular frequencies.

The frequency tends to differ depending on the type of material. Plastic tends to give a low sound between 200-600Hz, while metallic pipes tend to give a higher frequency of 600-900Hz. (Please note there are exceptions to this!)

Below are a few examples of leak graphs on different mains.

Large Leak on AC main
Small Leak on Plastic main
Small leak on DI main
Non leak
